Story of Lone

An extremely talented musician, Lone started learning guitar at the relatively late age of 15, but made up for it with a lot of dedication and hard work. Discovering an inherent talent for music, Lone later taught himself how to play both the bass guitar and the drums.

His musical influences include major league guitarists such as; Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple fame, Slash of Guns N’ Roses fame, blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Frusciante of Red Hot Chili Peppers fame, and acoustic guitarist Tommy Emmanuel. Learning a wide range of musical styles from a wide range of guitarists, Lone has developed his own distinctive versatile style that is suitable for any and all musical occasions.

In 1997, his band, Diamond Sounders, won first place in a Battle of the Bands competition. Word of Lone’s talent travelled and soon he was asked to perform for X-Place in One Utama, the Beyond Fan Club of Hong Kong, the Graduation Night for IACT, and later, for the 2001 New Year Eve Countdown in J.W. Marriot, Putra Jaya. He has also performed as a session giutarist for the local band “Barbastellas” in a Carlsberg sponsored event, and has worked as a song writer and composer with local Chinese artiste, Wilson Tin.

In 2002-2003, he coordinated school- and college-level bands for various interschool band competitions. Corporate and private events are very much a part of his repertoire as well, having performed in many wedding and company dinners. He was also asked to co-write a company song with Betty, for Walton International Group Sdn. Bhd., which he performed with Betty at the company’s annual dinner.

He has also performed with Redemption, a prominent band from the Philippines, in Planet Hollywood in KL. He is currently sharing his musical knowledge with young and talented students and is now working on writing and producing music for YzzY.
